Simms meets Molly

the American Girl Molly. My Molly. We got the American Girl magazine in the mail Monday, and Simms looked through it the way she usually does toy magazines, and she became fixated on 2 dolls. One doll with a cast on her leg, and Molly, because of her glasses. Well, I could barely contain myself. I immediately told her that I HAD Molly at my parent's house (I received her and Sissy got Samantha from Santa..Margaret and Molly=M's, Sissy and Samantha=S's..to be honest I was always jealous she got Samantha..she seemed more "glamorous"..haha). Anyway..I told her if we had a "good week" {yes we are to that point some days} that we would go and get Molly and her suitcase full of clothes and Molly's books on Friday. So we did that today. In the middle of a storm. Seriously..she was so excited. Picked out a dress to wear. Wouldn't talk the whole way to my parent's house. Like she was going to meet a real person. I did a lot of digging for the suitcase. In the process found these..most of them handmade by grandmother Evans..misplaced by my mother until today..and now too little for Simms and Mae Mae. Grrrr...

Grandmother Evans made lots of things for Molly, Samantha and my cousin Lauren's doll, Kirstin, every Christmas. They each had a Christmas stocking, and got a new outfit that she sewed every Christmas. I don't remember if Hillary, Ansley and Jennifer had American Girl dolls or not {and I know Miles didn't..ha}..but that was a lot of sewing for her. She loved it. Sadly, she isn't able to do that today, nor would she probably remember the outfits she made us or our dolls. I have tons of memories of her showing up after school to pin things on us before she sewed us a dress, or take measurements of things before she made them.

Simms brought Molly home in this {due to the rain and all}:

Then set her up on her bed with her suitcase:

Then decided it was time to go through the suitcase and do an outfit change:

These were made by Grandmother Evans for Molly. She even made her a glasses case:

And she also made Molly this nurses uniform:

And she's already put her in her nightgown for the night {and fallen asleep with her daddy}:

It was so much fun to watch her today. Molly was a big part of my "pretend" world as a little girl. And every Christmas I knew there would be a new book or new outfit to add to her collection. She is very special. And I am glad Simms is enjoying her now {although I layed down the law on taking care of her! Ha!}

I love this! I had Samantha, Brittny had Kirsten. Samantha is in AM's room...up on a shelf. And I have all of her clothes still too...in a suitcase very similar to the one you do! How funny is that! Brittny and I actually had matching pajamas for us and our dolls, did y'all do that too? We almost fell out a little while back when we found "our" pajamas at my mom's house going through dress up and doll clothes. They were hysterical! The guys couldn't get over it! How fun for the new generation to get to play with these dolls though. I love how excited Simms got.

I had Samantha and Molly!! I got Samantha first and then Molly two Christmases after. So fun. Ada has seen them at my mom's house but hasn't attached herself to them. She has bitty baby, but even that hasn't been a huge deal to her. I hope she one days shares the love:)

you sound like me and my baby dolls! my old barbies and baby dolls are all wrapped in tissue paper with all their original paraphernalia. yes. seriously. we also received that american doll magazine this week and i was amazed at how far those dolls have come {i mean you can even buy AG headgear!!}. i never had one but i DID get one of those AG bitty babies, or whatever they are called, when they came out. i think i was on the verge of being too old but i LOVED my "melanie" all the same. :) i cant wait to share it all with emory!

so fun. i didn't have any but my sister did. i want mary selwyn to have hers but she isn't really a doll or baby doll girl, she is more of a doll house and barbie type. she likes things she can make interact, i was thinking she would like american girl dolls better because they are girls, more than babies... adeline on the other hand is baby doll girl all the way like I was. (: glad simms is finding joy in your old treasure.
