A BIG weekend..Simms' 4th Birthday Party & an Engagement

What a fun weekend this has been! Busy..but FUN and HAPPY! We had Simms' 4th birthday party today, and last night, my brother Miles and his girlfriend Katy got engaged! We are so very happy for them! Starting with today..

Simms wanted this to be at her party SO badly..{and I think that is Sissy scooting out of the bouncey..hmmm}..all of Simms' friends had lots of fun bouncing with her

Daddy rigged up a pinata
Simms had sweet, sweet friends come to help her celebrate turning 4..I hate I didn't get everyone's pictures, but here are a few..

We sang and ate cupcakes and celebrated Simms! I can't believe she will turn 4 on Tuesday! Time surely does fly!

This sweet boy spent most of the party napping..he took a nasty fall in our driveway before the party started and wore himself out crying..you can see his poor little boo boos on his face..
Thank you to everyone who came to the party! Simms had so much fun!

And now to the other big event of the weekend..the engagement. I had known for a few weeks this was coming up..so it's been super hard being around Katy and not acting funny. I knew this summer when I heard her describing her dream ring {gold, round diamond, diamonds surrounding it} that it wouldn't be long. I guess Miles was listening, because he popped the question at sunset yesterday at the farm, here to be exact..

overlooking this..

He asked her to marry him with this beautiful ring..

After he asked her and she said YES they headed back down to Sissy and Drew's house where all of their families and some friends were waiting..

Katy and her mom..

We toasted..

And enjoyed a delicious meal and yummy engagement ring cookies..

With the parents {these mamas are so excited and thankful these 2 found their way back to each other}

Miles and Katy with Katy's brother Andy and sister Ali and Ali's boyfriend Eli

Our Meme giving some advice {she and Grandaddy are going on 65 years of marriage, so we love to hear their advice}

Bubby with Uncle Miles and now AUNT Katy {Cope LOVES Miles}..

We finished up the evening watching the AU game {Simms was in AU and enjoyed a spend the night party on the bus with Lilla}..it was a wonderful evening, and we are so happy for Miles and Katy. They began dating in high school, dated for several years, took a few "breaks" and have been through a lot together. We are so thankful the Lord's plan for these two included them finding each other again. They are a sweet, sweet couple and we look forward to their engagement and wedding! We love ya'll!

**Trunk or Treat at Preschool, Halloween and Simms' actual birthday posts all coming soon**

And Lilla welcomed her baby sister...

Sweet family of four...

Isn't she beautiful? LOVE the hair...

I stole all of these pics from Grover, because sadly we weren't able to make the trip to Tuscaloosa to meet her in person. We will meet soon though, and I can't wait. We are so thankful that she is here and healthy! We love you Emiline!

Jack-o-Lantern, Jack-o-Lantern

We finally carved our pumpkin. The pumpkin that came from the grocery store. Today. You read it right..there was no fun trip to the pumpkin patch this year. But GUESS WHAT?? Simms and Cope had just as much fun carving our store bought pumpkin as they would have with a pumpkin patch find {or so I tell myself). And I am so glad. Poor Cope. He's never been to a "real" pumpkin patch. Guess he knows no better. We had lots of fun tonight carving our pumpkin. Cope was a little leery of the gooey pumpkin insides but Simms loved reaching in and cleaning our pumpkin out. And just like every other year, I volunteered to take the pictures while Dru did the dirty work :)..

{yes..it is what it looks like..Simms is about to go nuts because he's touching the pumpkin}

{our oven stopped working about an hour after he played around with it..coincidence? probably not}

{we baked, or attempted to bake, our seeds..since our oven stopped working we had to broil them..and they are delicious still. we used cajun seasoning, which ended up in Cope's eye, garlic powder, sea salt and olive oil}

{they did a great job I think}

{The finished Jack-o-Lantern}
