Letters to my two {4 months and 30 months}

Dear Cope,
You are 4 months old. Amazing.

Where have the days gone ? You are a wonderful sleeper and napper! You are still nursing and taking formula. I am so grateful for this, as we didn't make it past 10 weeks nursing with your sister!

You are very much a scheduled baby which is odd because I'm not a scheduling-type parent at all! Luckily you adapt well too! You will not take a paci!

You are wearing size 2 diapers and 6-9 month clothes! You love baths! You smile all the time and we love your laughs! The sounds you are now making make me smile! You are trying so hard to sit up-such a strong little thing. You are even holding your bottle by yourself for a few seconds. You love being outside.

You are an answered prayer, the precious baby boy that I always hoped for and you are even more amazing than I ever imagined you. Oh how our hearts overflow with love.

Dear Simms,
It doesn't seem possible that you are 2 1/2 years old.

It seems like just yesterday that I became your mommy. You are my best little friend. I love the little pretend world we live in. I have so much fun staying at home with you, and I am so grateful for this time together- I know I will never get these days back.

You love playing school and mommy. You love telling us what to do :-). You will never understand how much we love you. You and your daddy have the most special relationship- it is so sweet. You have created so many "first" memories for us. Just the three of us- you, me and daddy.

You have become such a big helper with Cope. It is so bittersweet watching you grow up so quickly. What I would give some days to be rocking you again during nap time with you as my baby. You are such a little girl now.

My heart sometimes aches to have you just freeze where you are, but I'm so thankful you are healthy and growing so big! We love you! 2 1/2- wow!

A First for him and Fun for her.....

Cope was able to swing on our swing set this afternoon! I just decided to see how he would do and he loved it! At first he was a little confused- probably wondering why it wasn't as soft as his swing inside-but then those sweet giggle began! Simms of course enjoys the "big girl" swing now, as she calls it! I'd been telling Simms all day that we could have a picnic tonight with whatever she wanted to eat! Anything! I've included pictures of what she requested! Those of you that know her won't be surprised!

A First for him:

Then this little boy got hungry..so off to our "picnic":

Cope wasn't too impressed with Simms' meal of choice:

We ate anyway:

A-Day and a Wedding

We had a fun and busy weekend! We started out in Auburn on Saturday morning for the A-Day game. Cope's first time to Auburn- how fun! My goodness how time flies; it seems like we were just there for Simms' first A-Day game. OF COURSE my camera died, so the few pictures I have are from my phone. Dru's dad was very sweet and got us scholarship seats, so Cope and Simms stayed in the shade! They made it till half-time! We met Bobby, Beth and Merrill for lunch while we were in Auburn, then we headed to Montgomery. I can't forget to mention that Simms rode back to Montgomery with Papa on the bus! Dru hooked her carseat into the passenger's seat, and she was sitting high and mighty! It was hilarious! We all attended Cile's wedding reception that night. It was beautiful and Simms had so much fun with Adeline and Lilla! She danced and danced and followed Adeline around everywhere! Cope was there too, but I didn't get any pictures of him. He was very content in the stroller listening to the band! It was a beautiful night! We spent today lounging around at Gigi and Papa's house, and cooked out for Dru's birthday! Another great weekend with family! It so much fun with all of the cousins together! Loud, but fun!!!

On the dance floor. It was hilarious watching Simms imitate the other little girls!

Who cares how dirty the floor was? They were having so much fun!

Taking a little break!

Can I tell you how much Simms loves Lilla? She really thinks she is in charge of her!

He's 30!!

Our sweet husband and daddy turned 30 today! A wonderful person was born 30 years ago! Dru is truly one of the kindest people you'll meet. He works so, so hard to provide for our family and is the best daddy without a doubt! Not to mention an incredible husband too! We love you Dru!

Serenaded by his little girl (she practiced ALL day):

Blowing out 30 candles (and it did take a while. The candles would not go out):

This sweet baby slept through the celebrating!

He waited 30 years for this gift! (Not really, but he's waited a while and it made the perfect 30th birthday gift):

Happy Birthday Dru! We LOVE you!!!!!

Flashback to 1984..

..and this was the t-shirt I was wearing. Simms is enjoying it now!

And well, what can I say about him? He is absolutely incredible. Love him so, so much. How could I have ever worried about room in my heart for two?

So Excited..

Because we are going to pick up our sweet girl today!

She has been in Montgomery with Gigi and Papa for a few days. We hear she has had a great time. A few trips to Auburn and a few to Papa's office to see the puppies and kittens sounds like a great time for a little girl! Not to mention all of the playing she and Gigi have been doing! We can't wait to see her!

Cope slept for the first time unswaddled last night!

It went OK.

He is never swaddled for naps, so I didn't figure it would be very different, but it was. I looked at Dru this morning and said, "He is getting swaddled tonight." Of course, Dru thinks we should just stick with it, and I'm sure that is what will happen, but boy am I used to him not waking up at all during the night. He slept fine from 9 until 1. Woke up at 1 just stirring around, but I didn't get him out of his bed. He woke up again at 3:30 so I fed him (he hasn't had this feeding during the night in at least 6 or 7 weeks), put him back down then he was up again at 4:50 and each hour after that until we got up at 7.

He was never fussy; actually just the opposite. He was pumping his legs like his tummy may have been bothering him, and I did eat spicy chicken last night, and some cucumbers in my salad, which are pretty big no-no's on the nursing moms menu! I'll learn one day I suppose.

Here's to hoping tonight goes better.

And these are always on my menu!

Easter Sunday and a few Hunts

We have had a wonderful time celebrating Easter today. Our church service was wonderful (we LOVE our preacher), although it is getting harder to concentrate on the sermon as Cope gets older. It may be time for the nursery soon. Tear, tear. This year our church had 2 identical services. We always have an early service, but it isn't exactly the same as the main service, but today it was. In between services there was a breakfast. We went to the 11 o'clock service, but went early for the breakfast. Simms ate a little then we put her in the nursery. Of course, before church we did Easter baskets at home. Simms was most excited about her bathing suit! She loves that Cope got a matching one! Here are pictures from this morning, and some from Easter lunch at my Meme's house.

Easter Basket Fun!

Easter Egg Hunt #1!

Simms' school hunt was Friday. Minnie and Ninnie were keeping Bennett, so they all came too! She loved it and Bennett had so much fun with all of Simms' friends!

Easter Egg Hunt #2!

Simms went to Adaline MaDan's Easter Egg Hunt Saturday. We dyed eggs at home before we went. I only had 8 eggs, and after it was all said and done, we only ended up with 3! It was fun though! Adaline's egg hunt was a blast! The twin Tennessee fainting goats even made the trip over from the farm for all of the "kids" to see and play with!

Even the babies were there!
