Tonight Simms and I went with Dru while he roped...something that usually takes a lot of begging on his part, but tonight was nice and cool, so we went with him to "watch." Dru has been talking about getting Simms on a horse since before she was born, and of course, I have always said, "Yes, when she is older. And she will wear a helmet." And then Dru has always obviously laughed at me and said she absolutely wasn't wearing a helmet on a horse! (She will when she rides more often!) Anyway, tonight Dru thought he would try his luck by asking me if Simms could get on his horse Preacher with him so that I could take a picture! I reluctantly agreed, and said only for a moment ( I am sooo nervous myself around horses). Well, we put her up, took the picture, and Dru was handing her back to me, when she developed the saddest, most pitiful look either of us had ever seen. Once in my arms she started crying BIG tears and had her lip poked out a mile. Dru and I were both feeling so sorry for her, so I agreed to put her back up. As soon as she was back on Preacher, she started grinning from ear to ear and LAUGHING!! Needless to say I believe she is going to be a natural! She rode around with Dru for about 20 minutes! She was thrilled! As was Dru! This made his night! He was so happy he said he may not be able to sleep! (A true horse and Simms lover!) I am so happy they had this special time together!

That is precious! It's sweet that he was so excited that she was riding with him...I love that he said he might not be able to sleep:) Doesn't it just break your heart when that little bottom lip comes poking out!?! It's so sweet...I completely understand, you HAVE to give in. And, I'm with you on the helmet, stick to your guns, I'd be the same way-you go girl!
BTW-I was just reading the little side paragraph about Sim's birthday and weight. Ella weighed 6lb. 15oz. and her birthday is Oct. 29. Funny that those things are so close!
Awwwww...Margaret, that's so sweet! I can't believe she was that happy on the horse. Sipsey isn't even used to our cat yet! Thanks for the picture comments. I actually found a dress that Mom had smocked for me when I was Sipsey's age, so I didn't have to buy anything after all.
How sweet!! And what a special thing for her and Dru to bond over. Love the pics!
This is sweet. Horses make me a little nervous too and my father-in-law cannot wait to get Mary Selwyn on his horse....I'm going to have to allow it one day but I will put it off as long as possible. Daddy and his girl are so preciou.
